The short version
Goat Climb has no ads, no analytics and no tracking. Playing never needs an account or a connection. The game only sends something when you choose to: a bug report or an idea, a challenge link, or racing a friend online.
Your anonymous player id
The first time the game connects, it gets a random player id from our server. It isn't linked to your name, email or device, and the game uses it to tell your reports and races apart from other players'. Deleting the app forgets it.
Feedback
When you send feedback from the game or from goatclimb.app/feedback, we store:
- what you write, and whether it's a bug or an idea,
- for a bug from the game: a replay of your run (the moves you made, not a video), a screenshot of the game, and the game's version,
- your platform (such as iOS or a browser), your screen size, the time and your anonymous player id.
The screen tells you what's sent before you send it. Please don't write personal information in your report. We use feedback only to fix bugs and improve the game, and delete it when we no longer need it, at the latest two years after it was sent.
Challenge links
When you tap Challenge a friend after a sprint, the game uploads that sprint's replay (the moves you made, not a video), its time and the world, with your anonymous player id. Anyone with the link can race it as a ghost. The player id is never shown to them. We keep challenges for as long as the links may be used.
Racing friends online
When you race a friend online, the game sends your moves to your friend's device through our server as you play, along with your anonymous player id and the room code. The server passes them on and doesn't keep them. Your friend's device uses them to show your goat and doesn't save them.
Who handles the data
Our server runs on Supabase, in the EU, under a data processing agreement with Paylando AB. Supabase, like any host, may log technical data such as IP addresses to run the service.
What stays on your device
The game saves your bests, your top 10 and last 5 climbs with their replays, your best sprint times, your goals, your goat's looks and your settings on your device. That data never leaves the device unless you send it in a bug report. Deleting the app deletes it, and you can also erase it with Reset progress in Settings.
Your device's own backups, such as iCloud or Google backups, may include this data. Those are handled by Apple or Google under their terms.
This website
The browser version saves the same progress in your browser. goatclimb.app has no cookies, analytics or tracking. It is hosted on GitLab Pages, and GitLab may log technical data such as IP addresses to run the service.
Your rights
You can ask what we have stored about you and ask us to delete it. Email us with your report's text or the time you sent it, so we can find it. Paylando AB, Sweden, is responsible for this data, and you can complain to the Swedish Authority for Privacy Protection (IMY).
Children
The game asks for no personal information from anyone, children included.
Changes
If a future version changes any of this, we will update this page first.
